CONNECTICUT CELEBRATES THE NATION’S 250TH ANNIVERSARY

Governor Lamont joined state officials at the historic Old State House in Hartford to announce CT250 β€” Connecticut’s statewide commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary of independence.

Events will span all 169 municipalities, including:

πŸ”” July 4 – Statewide bell ringing, 13 tolls synchronized nationwide

πŸŽ† July 4, Hartford – Hartford Bonanza at Bushnell Park, 50,000+ expected with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and the region’s largest fireworks display

β›΅ June 28, Greenwich – A 160-foot Dutch tall ship arrives alongside a Colonial village and reenactments

πŸ₯ July 18, Deep River – The legendary Ancient Fife & Drum Muster, 250+ corps

βš“ Sept. 12-13, New London – CT Maritime Heritage Festival at Fort Trumbull

βš”οΈ Oct. 17, Durham – Revolutionary War living history encampment

Connecticut was known as the “Provision State” β€” supplying the Continental Army with food, munitions, and an estimated 40,000 troops, roughly one-fifth of the state’s entire population at the time.
